Philo is building the future of television. Our product lets you watch your favorite shows on all the devices you care about, with seamless playback, insightful discovery, and effortless sharing — in short, we’re building the TV experience that we’ve always wanted for ourselves.

Advertising at Philo

Philo built out the first vMVPD advertising business that is programmatic-first. That means that Philo has leaned into programmatic from the very beginning. We did not inherit a direct sales team and decided to focus on what we see as the future of CTV advertising.  We know that in a fragmented market brands are looking for reach, which means finding audiences efficiently across multiple CTV publishers.  Programmatic is the perfect vehicle to find, target, and measure unique audiences across this highly fluid landscape.

Programmatic advertising at Philo does not mean a basic open auction and rush to the bottom, but a curated set of deals that we manage closely, with an eye on who is advertising on Philo, what the CPMs are, and how brands are looking to find and target audiences and content.

The Advertising team at Philo is responsible for building and operating the ad business across multiple demand partners, primarily SSPs and resellers.  We’re a small autonomous team collectively responsible for the billions of impressions served on Philo each year. We are passionate about driving the future of television advertising.

Recent projects from our Advertising team include:

  • Transitioning to a unified decisioning system based on per-second value for each impression served
  • Integrating with multiple data vendors for audience targeting and measurement
  • Crafting and executing  new business models centered around new advertising capabilities

And the best is yet to come…

The Role

The OTT/vMPVD space is currently the fastest growing area for premium video advertising in the US, and Philo is on the leading edge of innovation and execution. Our philosophy is that the intersection of data and advertising will bring about change in how ads are sold, implemented, and measured.  The Advertising Team is responsible for building, testing, and quite literally reinventing the television Ad experience across web, mobile, and CTV platforms.
